Duties of a governess

One of the main governess duties is teaching and educating children in a private household paying attention to their social development (as well as tutoring English ond other subjects)
Governess will be employed to work 5 or 6 days per week and may work alongside a nanny.
She will normally care for school aged, or preschool children between the ages of 3 to 16 years.
A Qualified British Governess will have a teaching background or have higher childcare education and a minimum of 5 years professional childcare or teaching experience.
A Bilingual Governess is often asked to teach children a second language (French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, etc).
A Governess may also teach a musical instrument.

Salary

Governess salaries are dependant on qualification and experience. They range from £800 + net per week in London and £900 to £1800 net per week outside the UK.
